Helpful Tips

Grab works. Download it before you land. Street taxis in Trang's compact city center flake out. Grab won't.

Blue songthaews circle town. 20 baht each. Wave anywhere along the loop. They stop.

Motorbike taxis wait at the bus station. Ten minutes to Trang Airport. Half the price of a car taxi.

Morning longtail boats leave Pak Meng Pier. Catch them. Afternoon waves grow. Reach the Trang islands early.

Common Scams to Avoid

At Trang Airport, some taxi drivers insist the meter is broken for the short ride into town and quote a flat fare that is double the normal metered rate. Insist on using the meter or walk to the clearly marked airport taxi counter inside the terminal where fares are fixed and displayed.

Unlicensed drivers in the car park approach arriving passengers claiming to be "airport limousines" and charge premium rates for a basic sedan. Only use the official queue at the designated taxi stand just outside the arrivals door.

Motorbike taxi touts inside the terminal tell foreign visitors that the airport bus has finished for the day and pressure them into an expensive private ride. The scheduled airport shuttle continues until the last flight, and its stop is visible from the exit, check the posted timetable or ask the information desk rather than relying on unsolicited advice.
